Don't be afraid to go too far

Lamborghini has created a car that can handle anywhere, even in series production. No matter if ice, terrain, race track, gravel, rock or sand. Because the Lamborghini Urus is the first "SSUV" - the world's first Super SUV.

To put it bluntly: it can do anything. The Italians have surpassed themselves with it, and at the same time the acceleration of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and the horsepower of the Bentley Bentayga. Playing and letting off steam is the order of the day with the Urus.

The very name Urus (fighting bull) makes us (and all competitors) bow our heads in humility. Still, we can't let it go and turn the Urus 4.0L Biturbo into our next tuning project. The goal: a BAR-TEK-like 1000 horsepower! So be sure to follow along with each stage and stay tuned to see how much more we can get out of this bull!

Exterior beauty - The body of the Lambo Urus

The Lamborghini Urus is the first time in history that these two worlds have merged into one beauty: the performance of a supercar and the practicality of a sports utility vehicle (SUV). And it shows.

Here, the manufacturer has mercilessly harmonized forms and styles as only Lamborghini can allow itself to do. Sharp corners and edges, at the same time low in height, powerful down below and with large grilles in front of the intercoolers.

The design as a whole is extreme and typical Lamborghini: unusual and striking. Sporty and majestic at the same time. And that was exactly the goal of the Italian designers: a vehicle that makes you stand out. Wherever you go.

Simply a beast: the 4.0L V8 biturbo under the hood

You simply have to feel this engine to understand Lamborghini. With that said, let's try to nail down its specs, numbers, specs, and facts.

Because a lot of carbon has been used here overall, the Urus is not as heavy as most of its counterparts from other manufacturers. And that's despite the fact that the engine is also based on Audi's longitudinal modular kit. Still, at 2.2 tonnes, it can't really be called featherweight.

But the weight doesn't matter, because under the bonnet is the four-litre V8 petrol engine with twin turbochargers. So far the first turbocharged engine at Lamborghini! The Urus puts an impressive 650 HP (478 kW) and 850 Nm on the road. Thus it reaches 100 km/h in record time (3.6 seconds) and already reaches a top speed of 305 km/h! The automatic transmission offers eight gears and, combined with the SUV-typical all-wheel drive, achieves what we adore the Urus for: thanks to the active distribution of torque on the rear axle, the Super SUV is ready for absolutely any surface. You can expect maximum performance on the race track, in the city, in ice and snow and in the desert.

Driving Dynamics, Driving Assistance and Safety in the Urus

Fully live up to your own needs: Lamborghini has ensured that the Urus adapts entirely to your preferences. The overall driving dynamics are sporty, but with the ANIMA controller you have full control over the driving modes:

  • Strada: This lets you cruise the roads in a relaxed, easy everyday manner.
  • Sport: It becomes more agile, the driving pleasure increases.
  • Corsa: The sound is awesome, the dynamics sporty. The mode for maximum performance and precision.
  • Neve: With this you are safe on slippery surfaces.
  • Terra: This makes it more agile and comfortable off-road.
  • Sabbia: The mode for the sandy desert.
  • Ego: Here you can define the steering wheel, drive and damping completely according to your wishes.

As you can see, you can let off steam in absolutely any situation. This supercar has all-wheel drive with an active limited-slip differential and active air suspension and four-wheel steering. Plus, it gives you a steady and instant response, thanks to the roll stabilization system. And because it's fitted with the world's largest set of carbon ceramic brakes, you can be absolutely sure of adequate stopping power too. You might think that's as good as it gets. But as always, we're going one better, so brace yourself!

In terms of safety, this car leaves nothing to be desired. The driving assistance and safety systems in the Urus can also be adapted to your needs. Not only do they control your comfort and driving pleasure, but they've also been designed with all your passengers in mind!

And because Lamborghini doesn't stand for pure luxury for nothing, the Urus also has technical comfort: the cockpit is reminiscent of that of a fighter jet, there are two touchscreens with haptic feedback, interactive voice control, three HD displays, an audio system from Bang & Olufsen, through which you in turn play 21 speakers. To put it bluntly, the Urus can do it all. Almost, because now comes our part!

Lambo tuning in our Area 51

Like all our tuning projects, we send the newest member of the BAR-TEK fleet to our in-house workshop: Area 51. On the 1000 HP test bench we raise Lambo tuning to a new level. In addition to the best external conditions, we also benefit from our 15 years of motorsport experience!
